From this balcony I have a diapositive. L.
Very nice, Marilyn. I don't know if you was in New Orleans before Katrina. But anyway, how did you found it? Are there signs left of the hurricane?Dany
Very nice Details Marylin
Good question Dany, I'm also interested, how it Looks after Katherina.
Greetings from Bonn, Wim
I'm glad that this brought back memories, Vera. What an interesting place it is!
Dany and Wim, the French Quarter was not damaged as severely as many parts of the city. I had not been here before, but our group was taken on a tour that showed us how badly affected some areas were. Many houses have been rebuilt, but in between them there are still vacant lots, and we were shown how high the water came up in various places. Our son and daughter-in-law had planned to take their honeymoon in New Orleans but had to cancel because of Katrina. They went a year later, when damage was very obvious and there were still few visitors.
Thanks for the informations, Marilyn. Dany
I have to control myself, Marilyn, because I find myself wanting to comment on every photo. These bring back such wonderful memories! I try to get to New Orleans every time I go home (once a year if I'm lucky).
Did you have beignets at Cafe du Monde? That IS New Orleans!
Warm regards, Leo
No, Leo, no beignets even we knew that it was THE thing to do. I think you'll understand my choice. In comments to my photo on St. Louis Cemetery #3, I outlined our schedule. There was all too little time, but one afternoon when we had a bit of free time at Jackson Square, the sun came out, and we had a choice: beignets at the Cafe or photography? You can see which won!
Best wishes, Marilyn
