Danke, fotoditzi! Dieser Naturlehrpfad ist wirklich großartig, wir haben sogar eine blühende Kiekie gesehen!

That's the forest... I missed this one. Had a long day - "heavy rainfall on the west coast, easing to showers lately" on the road from Haast to Karangarua . No fancy to explore Bruce Bay, Ship Creek, Lake Moeraki etc...

Such a pity, Tom! This is one of the most beautiful of the short walks along the West Coast, if you come to NZ again be sure to go there - the wood is a bit sheltered from the rain:-)

I was not successful with West coast area. First time - I left Greymouth and stopped near Kumara junction: defect on bike, I had to return to Greymouth, wait for repair and then hurry up to Arnold Valley, Moana, Arthur's Pass - no time for Hokitika, Franz Josef, Fox and Haast.

Next time there was again time shortage and poor weather, so from the Haast I reached Franz Josef (mostly in rain) and then from here I took a bus to Arthur's Pass. So I missed my biggest storm in NZ, I guess. ;-)

Let's see next time, I am already hooked, you know...

Third time lucky:-)) Usually the west is supposed to be less wet in winter, but you can't count on it. Anyway, you've gone through all sorts of mishaps so for a change next time eveything might run smoothly.

The weeks before I was there last year, Fiordland had dry and sunny weather, on the day it was overcast and then started to rain and the day after that the road was closed due to flooding and avalanche risk...
