See a ten minute British Ministry of Information video film, released by the US Office of War Information and narrated by the American journalist, Edward R. Murrow, at:

Dover in World War Two: 1942

Dover Castle is a Listed Building, English Heritage site, and Scheduled Ancient Monument (see other tags on the right).

A favourite tower:

A classic view:

Constable’s Gateway, Entrance to the Key of the Kingdom, Dover Castle

The Late Georgian and Early Victorian Castle Street was built between 1830-1835, but had no access to the Market Square (behind the viewer) until 1836-1837. See a modern day view at:

There are five still photos taken from the 1942 Dover Frontline film beginning at:

Town Hall, High Street, Dover at War, 1942 Video, Kent, England

They're not very good quality, though - so be warned and don't even think of asking for your money back (that's a joke by the way!)
