Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Taken in our front yard at Mile 33 Chena Hot Springs Road, in Chena River State Recreation Area. The skies were flareing all night this night. It was -48F with clear skies. Oh! what a night we had.

Hello Arno

Thank you so much for your kind reply on my Alaska’s Flare (northern lights) photograph. The skies were just going crazy the last two weeks of November, and I am anxiously waiting for the flare events to happen again. Hopefully they will flare before we our dark skies go away. We get 23 hours of sunlight in the summer, and will not be able to see them.

This is such a kind compliment coming from a person that lives in awesome Switzerland. Your country is beautiful beyond description. I have many more posted on Facebook if you’d like to see them. The web link is: The photos are set so the public can view them.

Thank you again

I'm Alan who left ColdFoot on the 15th Dec 2013. Hope you still remembers me. Kind of miss ColdFoot now.... Recommend all viewers to go Alaska, Coldfoot, to witness the spectacular Northern Lights but be mindful to keep your foot as warm as possible! You know... it is COLDFOOT! LOL
