Groeten Berend

Hi Berend...I was wondering what you meant by "the new waterway" how new??? Did they dig out a brand new canal? etc and I pressed the translate for the last comment.....it reads..."on the path was in some places the snow weggedooid and I could pretty on the knees". greetings....H

Hello Helen, The New Waterway is a canal digged in 1863-1872, to prefent the decline of the harbor of Rotterdam, see THIS LINK. The section East of Maassluis has another name (Het Scheur) but everybody called the whole piece of river the New Waterway.

"Weggedooid" means the snow has thaw away. "Mooi" has many meanings and in my sentence it meant "good/fine". Greetings Berend

Thanks for the link...interesting.....what a big project so long ago. Google earth has such clear images, of the New Waterway....and many many bdeh images spotted across the countryside. H

You're welcome H, the path next to the New Waterway is one of my favourite to walk with my camera. Always something to photograph, ships, birds and in summer flowers. Greetings Berend
