Charran Inca
The Inca Charrán is about 40 cm. long, and is generally dark slate gray, slightly lighter on the throat and under the wings. From the corner of the peak appears a white line passes under the eye and topped with white feathers ruffled out, shaped mustache. The bill is red with a yellow fleshy corner in the back. The legs are red - orange. The wings are brownish black, fringed with white secondary, so that is a white line visible in the back half when they maintain tight ends. Forked tail black color - brown. Juveniles have no mustache and brown plumage. These gaviotines, feeding at sea (often in large flocks) of fish caught performing banks chopped and diving on Peruvian anchovy, mackerel and camotillos. Scavengers and opportunists, also consume carcasses of seals and offal left by fishing boats. (The bite is a fish called pejerrey in the dock sell to feed the birds.)
