I believe you have correctly identified it, Berend. His call can be heard here. When I found this tiny fellow with my spotlight he was croaking and the balloon throat was inflated.

While its call is familiar I have never bothered to go looking for it before. I was surprised to learn that while it is found right across eastern and northern Australia its range extends to the interior deserts. And it is also found in Timor.
