I really like this soft pale light. It mutes all the colors, but I think it emphasizes the texture. It becomes less a place, and more an idea of a place. Hard to describe, but there's something very pleasing about this image, and a very good composition, as says Ian. Also a very good "rust" photo, Marilyn!

Thank you, Ian and Ryan. We've just had our first photo sharing/critiquing session of the Elderhostel. Everybody was to submit one shot, and this was my choice. I knew that many would submit something gorgeous and dramatic, and as you know, I try for those, too. But I think this one is more "me," so I'm especially glad that you like it. (And yes, it received favorable comments.)
