This has been known as "The Big Hole" for 150 years, and in my youth I swam here a lot. The bank is 9M high, and that was a favourite place to jump from. However since those days 50M of the bank has been eroded by floods especially the 1999 and 2013 floods.

It really is a great place for a dip in warm water.

I have been browsing your large collection of OZ images... I just wish I could get you out of the desert from time to time. But maybe like your confreres such as Dirk Hartog, the Dutch are committed to the Australian deserts, as vast, as diverse, as colourful and unique as they are.

Yes Berend, there was a lot of erosion here during the January flood a month ago.
