Hello Buddy Rogers ... photo looks northeast ... Town Hill angles along the upper left of the photo ... you were airborne just about over the minor metropolis of Paw Paw WVa. In this view, the historic C&O Canal torturously follows the north (Maryland) shore of the Potomac, but upstream opposite Paw Paw the canal/towpath cuts off a whole riverine meander with a 3100 foot long tunnel laboriously drilled through a mountain by hand by Irish laborers from 1836 to 1848, an endeavor that virtually bankrupted the canal construction company and allowed the B&O railroad to win the construction race westward ...
