Hello Marilyn. Thanks for share this beatiful serie about Arizona. Do you know the debatable etymology of "Arizona"? The two most likely explanations are that it derives from a Basque phrase aritz onak, "good oaks" or that it comes from an O'odham phrase alĭ sonak, "small spring". So, your photos proves that both of explications are possibles.

Greetings.

Dear Marilyn, this lake makes landscape more unusual and enigmatic! Best wishes. Eva

Thank you, Pepe, Eva, and eme jota, and thanks for the interesting information, Pepe.

They started serving dinner on the boat when we were in this wonderful location. You can tell how excited I was about the sight from the fact that I stayed out a while longer rather than going in immediately to eat!!

Simply outstanding picture! I wonder what time was it taken? We have booked a 10am boat. Lake Powell is beautiful but i can't help thinking about the price for this beauty. Anyway, great shot, worth missed dinner:)

Greetings, Inessa

Thanks, Inessa, This was a sunset dinner cruise, and we heard afterwards about its list price. I hope our Elderhostel organizers got a good group rate! But of course every time of day has its own special opportunities.

Greetings, Marilyn

Thank you Marilyn. I am not sure about the light at the Rainbow Bridge... Can't figure out where the sun is in the morning...

Glen Canyon was a price for Lake Powell, i mean.

Greetings, Inessa

Marilyn:

How very beautiful. I've never seen anything like this wonderful place! It's so still and peaceful.

Thank you for sharing, and Happy Easter to you.

Thanks, Kathy and MaryAlice. It was really idyllic! We were on a dinner cruise, and the food was excellent, but I couldn't tear myself away from the view in order to eat until after the colour faded.

Romantic, lonely, rugged, magic landscape...

Marilyn Whiteley on March 31, 2008

As I said earlier in the comments, it was so lovely that had little interest in going into the dining room for dinner! Thanks for the lovely description, Janina.
