Yabba Creek Road is appropriately named!

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

In this moderate flood event of 26 Feb 2013, Yabba Creek took its shortcut from the bend at Kropp's Crossing (background) along Yabba Road and through the flood channel in Chenall's paddock. Then this channel flow reenters the main channel of Yabba Creek behind Stehbens' residences, where the flood moves at high velocity.

This photo was taken at the time of the flood peak.

A month earlier, a major flood had also passed down the Yabba, and it was 3M higher than this flood pictured. This moderate flood peaked at 7.7M on the Imbil gauge, whereas the flood a month earlier rose to 10.7M.

This was the second flood for the summer of 2013. The earlier flood was 3M higher than this one, but all is quiet again, the Yabba quietly flowing past my window is a gentle brown but in a week it will have lost that colour too, and be back to its clear water.

Regards from a well watered Yabba Valley!
