This beauty just checked in with my conversation list, and I thought I'd let you know that I still think this one's pretty special.

Why thank-you very much for that Oooh, Mr. Who! And thanks again Mr. N1w! It warms the heart when the effort of dragging oneself out of bed before sunrise and venturing into the freezing cold of the high plains in winter ends up being worth it! And it even became quite a stellar day, as well - the one clear blue day that Mother Nature typically allows me each trip out to Targhee.

Great shot! What type of camera did you use?

kamalyn, on November 10, said:

Hi Cpl Ski - thanks for commenting! This was with a Canon PowerShot S3 - a 2006 or 2007 model. The current versions are the SX10 or SX20. Its a great bridge camera between pocket point and shoots and a dslr, and takes very nice video as well. I seem to be able to get much better moon shots with the S3 than with my dslr!

Also, while it disappears from time to time, clicking on the blue 'Extra Information' link on the bottom right side of photo pages expands the photo information list to show the camera model and shooting information. A GREAT tool to use to learn the different effects of ISOs, shutter speeds, etc.

So you're saying the the moon goes into a big hole in this mountain? I'd never heard of that before. Amazing the things one can learn on the entire-net.

Thanks again Tery !

Yup, not1word! And I'm a veritable font of mis-information :) (Helvetica, I believe.)

Akshully, if you zoom out so the little scale is at 10 miles, you'll notice the the big hole in the mountains that's what is Teton Valley. The Tetons to the east, the Big Holes to the west. The valley itself was known as Pierres Hole (okay - I had to omit the apostrophe there because we all know what the wierdnesses of hte site does to them..) There. Now there's some real actual knowledge gleaned from teh entirenet!
