As seen from v. near to Oban sailing club and the excellant fish restaurant.
I always make a point of eating in the fish restaurant when I visit Oban.
Google Earth / Panoramio clearly states that photographs should be positioned at the point from where they were taken, and specifically NOT at the position of the subject of the photograph. I tried to use Panoramio to make this suggestion but have found that the photo's position is blocked, I presume by you. PLEASE will you consider moving it to where it should be as that is the information most people want. It's extremely irritating when this rule is not followed. Thank you.
There has been considerable debate about this point in several of the Panoramio discussion fora. Normally the position where the photo is taken from is best, but there are some exceptions, such as photos of places taken at long distances, where this does not always make sense. In the end it is at the discretion of the photographer to decide what is best. Believe me, I am not hiding anything or trying to mislead - the title of the photo explains it very well.
In this case, if I positioned the photo in Oban and said it was a view of Mull, viewers would very likely confuse Kerrera in the foreground with Mull in the distance. This would be even more confusing.
