Athens, Kerameikos, a view to Lycabettus hill (dédiée à JC EBY ©)

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Kerameikos is the district of Ancient Athens, where there was the cemetery of the city.

Nowadays the archeological site is between Hermes' street and Piraeus avenue. A long promenade from Technopolis of Athens (Gaz Factory Museum) through Hermes' street offers magical view to the hills of Lycabettus and Acropolis. The promenade leads to Thesseion, Acropolis and ends at the Hadrian's Gate and the Temple of Olympian Zeus and was created according Melina Mercouri's desire (as minister of the culture) in order to unify the main archaeological sites of Athens.
