This low diversion weir was constructed during the mid to late twentieth century to divert initial winter flows of steam water heavy in salt and agricultural contaminants from upstream, away from the Yornaning pool and through a pipe to another watercourse. As the winter flow increased and became cleaner it would overflow the weir and recharge the pool. Apparently the idea was regarded as a success. The picture was taken facing south.
