“Sleeping Devil” is a world renowned parade show from Aomori-ken, Japan. This 250 years old traditional show is invited to participate in the 2013 Taiwan Lantern Festival. The Japanese designer expressed that the lantern is a traditional belief and an important cultural property in Japan. Their participation to this festival is mainly to thank for Taiwan’s generosity in helping Japan after the March 11th Northeastern Earthquake. They hoped that the“Sleeping Devil”Parade Show can pray with people of Taiwan for avoiding troubles and disasters.
The “King of Dragon” key lantern is measured 5 meters in height, 9.5 meters in width, 7 meters in depth, and a total weight of 4 tons, it is activated and moved by 40 men. The lantern is presented by over 100 jumping crew and a 40-people drum group joining the parade.
