Gimnyeong Port

Gimnyeong Port located in Gimnyeong-ri in east Jeju is the national fish tank, and the seawall built in it is in the scale of 850 meters, and it is being used as the local or foreign yacht mooring or yacht theme port.

Jeju Island has few curved bays, so there are not many places that are proper for ship entry. Thus, the fish tank in Jeju Island is not just for anchoring but also works as the center of a fishing village where social, economic, and cultural activities are performed generally as well as complexly.

It is also the space that connects the production area of the fishing village and the village itself as the living space.

Particularly, in Jeju Island, due to its regional characteristics having severe storms, its fish tank facilities are even more important than in other regions.

Therefore, in the area of fishing villages, the location of fish tanks or the status of facilities becomes the typical index for the foundation of the fishing industry in the fishing village and also the criteria to figure out the residents’ living environment as well.
