Cormorant ~ Phalacrocorax carbo

Not selected for Google Earth or Google Maps [?]

Conservation status: Green A large and conspicuous waterbird, the cormorant has an almost primitive appearance with its long neck making it appear almost reptilian. It is often seen standing with its wings held out to dry. Regarded by some as black, sinister and greedy, cormorants are supreme fishers which can bring them into conflict with anglers and they have been persecuted in the past. The UK holds internationally important wintering numbers.

Anglers need to train them to fish for them (like the Chinese do) and then there would be no conflict and less floats in tree tops Nick.

Course, that just what I think!

Have you gone over full time to birding now? You have my well wishes either way mate.

Greetings from spring - David

Hi Nick,

You are doing really well with your bird library. Another beautiful specimen to include, and well done for not only finding it, but getting close enough for a picture.

Best Wishes Peter
