Old Highway 61. Shaw, Mississippi.

Fabled Highway 61 Bob Dylan song.

This bar was probably quite busy, before they build the new highway, which bypasses the small town of Shaw. In fact there is a bar on the entry and this one at the end of town and not much in between!

Highway 61 running south between Memphis and Vicksburg, along the Mississippi River is a wonderful slice of American past, were the Delta blues was formed.

Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Bessie Smith, B.B. King and even Elvis got the blues bug drinking the water (and other stuff) of Mississippi river here.

Dylan lyrics to Highway 61 revisited:

Oh God said to Abraham, “Kill me a son” Abe says, “Man, you must be puttin’ me on” God say, “No.” Abe say, “What?” God say, “You can do what you want Abe, but The next time you see me comin’ you better run” Well Abe says, “Where do you want this killin’ done?” God says, “Out on Highway 61”

Yesterday, I heard on the news that a girl was arrested for posting a photo of a grafitti on social web site. The graffiti depicted Montreal policeman with bullet in his head.

Would Bob Dylan be now arrested for advocating killing of sons???
