Goldfinch ~ Carduelis carduelis

Not selected for Google Earth or Google Maps [?]

A highly coloured finch with a bright red face and yellow wing patch. Sociable, often breeding in loose colonies, they have a delightful liquid twittering song and call. Their long fine beaks allow them to extract otherwise inaccessible seeds from thistles and teasels. Increasingly they are visiting birdtables and feeders. In winter many UK goldfinches migrate as far south as Spain. From :http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdguide/name/g/goldfinch/index.aspx

starMAN, ~ I sincerely hope that none of these beautiful birds are captured and caged ~ how cruel and unthoughtful some people are ~ This of course is not aimed at you Man but at those that do.

stacy metcalf, A very good morning to you Stacy and you have chosen well ~ Thank you ~ All the very best to you in Kelowna ~ nick

Very pretty little bug ... I see you have strayed from the architectural theme and are now into bird watching ;) ... you do realise you are taking your life into your hands getting this close to such predators ... Take care little Grasshopper ... and hugs from little Racoon who is pleased to hear that it is now a warm 5 degrees over there ... my girls will be pleased ;)

Nick Weall on April 12, 2013

scml Not so much travelling involved at present attempting to take shots of birdies little Racoon and also the weather has been terrible for months. I'll try not to get pecked to death :~))) Hopefully by the time your girls hit London the temperatures will be in double figures ~ I'm sure they will bring the sun with them anyway ~ Hugs ~ GH
