This reminds me of the currant world stock markets everthing is going up but all based no real solid structure just conjecture. The down steps leading to the lake remind us that we may still all get wet feet.

A stairway to ....? A picture like this makes you wonder what people think about the remains of our houses or something like that.....

Greetings, Ed:

At one time, this place was a masterpiece! Parties and huge functions were held here, both during the day and at night. Somewhere amongst my pictures, you can also find an old gazebo which stood out in the middle of this same lake. Across the street is the sweet little rock lighthouse( also in my gallery), and the large home nearby still also stands with an enormous bowling ally in the attic, though it has long been abandoned. The gardens with all sorts of neat rock work and such are all grown up and covered with vines and trees, but I can imagine that it was all the cat's meow in the early 1900's. I would love to find some old photos of the area, but have not run across any yet. I'm still searching.

Thank you so much for your visit. I didn't mean to ramble on so much, but it really stirs me up!

Greetings,

Mary Alice

Good morning Mary Alice: what a fascinating picture you have painted of this place.

I am sitting here listening to Leonard Cohen sing 'Joan of Arc', and your image and story carry some of that pathos.

Have a super Sunday,

Sean.

Good Morning, my dear Friend! :)

How are you on this beautiful Sunday? I am wonderful! The sun is shining bright and the temperature is perfect! I am getting ready to take the pups out for a day of swimming and ducks! :)

Thank you for stopping by the old stairs here, and I'm glad that you enjoyed them. "Joan of Arc"? Interesting! :)

I hope you will have a wonderful day today, and thank you again for your kind visit. It's always such a pleasure hearing from you!

Warmest regards,

Mary Alice

Well Mary Alice, I have just had a great Sunday. I am just back from golf and while our weather is still not very springlike, it was a pleasant walk.

I do hope you and the pups had a great day swimming and the ducks weren't bothered too much.

If you don't know this song, you should really try and find a copy, it's excellent, nothing at all to do with your photo but then again.......:-)

You have a wonderful week,

Sean.

MaryAlice, on April 21, said:

Greetings Sean!

Tell me, who sings "Joan of Arc"? No, I'm not familiar with the song, but now you've got me curious, and I will look it up if you'll give me an artist! :)

I'm so glad to hear that your day of golf was wonderful!

We did have a great swimming day yesterday, and all the ducks are still fully intact! :)

Warmest regards to you on this nice Monday evening,

Mary Alice

How wonderful to hear from you! I will check on this version of the song when I get home and can play on iTunes! Thank you so much for your input.

I hope you are doing well! :)

Oh sorry, I did very wrong... not Spandau Ballet!!! It was OMD (Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark)... I believe, I#m getting old :( And it is still available in the iTunes-store :) I'm fine, yes, have to answer so many comments here =D You are OK? Greetins, DerSIGGY

I am wonderful, and thank you so much for asking. I'm glad to hear that you are doing well also. I wondered where you had drifted off to.

I'm sure that OMD is most insulted that you called them Spandau Ballet, but they'll get over it. I will look it up this evening and thanks again! ;)

Enjoy your evening, Friend!

Ten thousand feet have climbed these stairs, These solid piers of grey, No longer burdened with the cares Of life, they've gone away..

No longer hurried by the throng, Nor bustled through the door. The proud establishment has gone, The people are no more.....

Oh, your photos are having the best effect on me. I am very taken with them. They somehow speak out, don't they?

I had better get on with some work!!

(Well, I'll do some work in a minute, I might just look at a few more.......:) These computers really eat up the time, don't they, but in a most agreeable way.

Kind regards, Sue

Sue,

My photos have such an effect on you? Well, let me assure you, your POETRY has that same effect on ME! I am almost speechless.

My gosh, your words are so beautiful. You must have written many books of poetry in your day, yes? I would love to sit and read them for days. You write so beautifully. You have a gift. . . an amazing and wonderful gift. Thank you so much for sharing that gift with me.

Respectfully,

Mary alice

Mary Alice, I am so very pleased that you like my poems. I couldn't help myself, your photos are so poignant. (Goodness, how do you spell that word!?) Anyway, you know what I mean...I have only written about 50 poems since about January, and didn't even know I could do them before that. Now they wake me up in the night and I have to write them down quickly to stop my teeth gnashing in time to the words. I am enjoying it while it lasts, in case it goes away as quickly as it came, if you see what I mean. I seem to have a new lease on life lately, and your photos for inspiration and this new correspondence with you is the icing on the cake!

Many many thanks, catch up with you soon, I hope, Take care, Sue

MaryAlice, on August 8, said:

Sue,

I do not 'like' your poems. I LOVE them! I have been telling everyone about them. I still can't get over your talent. It just blows me away.

If these things keep you awake at night, I think you should put a pen and paper there beside your bed. Don't let 'em get away from you. They're all too great!

I hope this evening finds you well, and that you enjoy your weekend to the fullest.

Thank you again for all the attention. I am so completely flattered.

Best regards,

Mary Alice

Hello, Mary Alice, I have lost my camera! My two youngest girls are roaming around the garden and standing for ages in bushes as the place is alive with scarlet honeyeaters and they are trying to get that 'perfect shot'. They keep coming in the kitchen, for me to put their pictures on the computer, but alas, mostly they are so far of fuzzy undergrowth and we have been having 'spot the bird' competitions. It isn't easy for them to do the settings as you have to keep going to the menu and selecting which way you want to take the photo from there. Mind you, I think they are learning by their mistakes as there are more distinct red dots and less blurs as time goes on.

Anyway, it's that special time of day when the sun is at its most golden and brings the place alive with vivid colours, so I might go outside for a while again before it gets dark.

Fancy you telling everyone about my poems! I do love doing them though, but it's a funny thing, they are either 'there' or they are not! Do you know what I mean? I either look at something or hear a sentence and one pops straight into my fingertips, or my mind is a blank, even though I might still think that the subject is very beautiful. Anyway, I shouldn't be writing an essay on here, should I? It's supposed to be for comments, after all, not life stories! Tee hee, sorry about that!

Catch up with you soon, funny really, you feel like an old friend, even though we've only just met. I guess it's because we seem to have a lot of interests in common.

Hope you enjoy your weekend too. Guess what I'm doing tomorrow? W a s h i n g.(Can't say that word!!)

See you soon, Sue x

MaryAlice, on August 11, said:

Sue,

You may write an 'essay' under my photos Anytime that you take a notion, my dear! =) I always enjoy reading anything that you have to say to me.

Indeed, I have been telling everyone about your poems, and I still am. I am very proud to have inspired you to write such creative and beautiful words. It is truly a great honor for me.

I am eager to see what sort of shots your children have been taking. I shall come over in a few minutes to check out your new posts.

I hope you managed to get a lot of washing done. Lucky for me, I only wash a load once a week, because it is just me! Thank goodness, dogs don't dirty up clothes! =)

Very best regards to you this evening,

Mary Alice

I am back, and I must say still finding plenty to like! I have always enjoyed history, especially local history. It seems every small town has it's own unique past, and it's own forgotten tales.

Cheers and you have more than earned all of the kind words you have received.
