Linn County Juvenile Justice Center - Cedar Rapids, Iowa

The new Linn County Juvenile Justice Center is located at 211 8th Avenue SW in Cedar Rapids (diagonally across the street from the Jean Oxley Linn County Public Service Center). It is built one foot above the 2008 flood level and will house juvenile probation offices, Juvenile County Attorneys and the juvenile court functions that were in the lower level of the Courthouse on May's Island. The building has a sally port for added security and safety.

The project is funded by a $3.7 million grant from I-JOBS and approximately $2.9 million in Disaster Recovery Bonds issued by Linn County.

The new building will meet Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification standards, a certification program that encourages green and sustainable building practices. It will reduce the lifetime operational cost and greatly improve energy efficiency. The Juvenile Justice Center is one of three Linn County buildings that displays public art in its lobby.
