A firebug set alight the southwest corner of Wireless Hill nature reserve on the late morning of 27 March 2008. About 20 hectares were burnt out before a fleet of helicopters and ground firefighters brought it under control. Canning Highway which lies between the houses and the hill was closed off for a couple of hours. No housing was damaged. This picture was taken in a northeasterly direction from Tompkins Park.
For more pictures of the event and helicopters at work go to Paul R. Weaver's Picasa website.

Dear Paul Wireless Hill near Applecross is not in New South Wales but in West Australia (WA) where the flag is set correctly. Regards, w.e.roth

Yes, I was aware of this. The location is a Google default which I can't change. I let them know some time ago, but they haven't responded. Thanks, Paul.
