This is the southern edge of the fireline after a blaze engulfed an estimated 20 HA of the northern slope of Wireless Hill on 27 March 2008. 24 hours earlier the hill had been ablaze from a bushfire lit by a firebug. Water bombing helicopters and ground teams prevented the fire from spreading further. It can be seen that there is a lot of fuel in the unburnt section. The flamibility of this native bush reserve is enhanced by South African veldt grass. The picture was taken in a northwesterly direction.
For more photos of the fire, water bomber helicopters and the scorched aftermath 24 hours later see two photo essay folders at Paul R. Weaver's Picasa site.
