Im sure this was the popular place for forces to come and drink weekend. Did there used to be lots of cafes and eating places along the front and shopping in the streets behind ? (was 1963 so bit hard to recal)
Yes, I was there. Duty free shops galore, cameras, hi-fi whatever. That was just before they kicked us out [1967?]
I returned as a civilian 13 years later to find a virtual ghost town. The one or two shops still open in The Crescent still selling stuff which was left over from the golden years.
Thanks man.
I was there with 45 cdo. 1966/7. remember visiting the crescent for a pint or two and ending up with my mate in a crummy small jail, after saying too much to local copper.
