"Community" by Kirk Newman from (2001) . Featuring 9 men, 5 women, 6 kids = 21 people (right???). 'The rush hour'

"Community" by Kirk Newman from Texas,USA (2001) consists of 21 life-size figures, baseball bat, 3 cell phones, ball, camera and at least 4 brief cases, standing in front of Manulife Financial's head office (1925) on Bloor St. E. The sculpture is life sized (2 m x 8 m).

Not a typical cross section of Toronto diversified society, but what do you expect from a Texan. The figure up front, with the brief case, strongly resembles Mike Harris, who was Ontario premier at the time. (1995-2002).

Newman completed this sculpture at age 87. He photographed people downtown for some ideas.

There is another photo of this sculpture in my gallery. Similar sculpture by Newman is installed in Hong Kong.
