Marilyn Whiteley on March 30, 2008

Thank you for your comments, Ryan, Giulio, Gabor, Daniela, eme jota, and Marco.

I owe this picture to my husband. I was willing to stop with this shot, but he pressed on. He came back and told me that there was a great viewpoint up ahead. I continued, and yes, there was! Marilyn

DeEtte Fisher on March 30, 2008

Great perspective, Marilyn! Your husband was wise to urge you on to this vantage point! :)

Greetings, DeEtte

great shot, marilyn! :) maybe you could climb up next time to add some perspective ;) last time i was there, i saw a couple small children climbing that arch (on that side, not the much easier campground side) while their parents stood at the bottom and watched! :O yikes, brian

Marilyn Whiteley on March 30, 2008

Thanks, Brian. That would be the day! My aged knees did well enough to get me here to the bottom! (On a trip west when I was a teen-ager, my parents and I saw parents trying to put a child on a roadside bear to take a photo! Is there no end to stupidity?) Marilyn on March 30, 2008

Marilyn incredible photo,Congratulations¡¡¡¡ Regards, Josep Àngel from Catalonia.

Tamás Borbély on March 31, 2008

Impressive perspective and amazing photo Marilyn ! My best regards, Tamás

Pepe Triton on March 31, 2008

Hello Marilyn. A beautiful perspective. Congratulations.

Marilyn Whiteley on March 31, 2008

Many thanks, Josep, Tamás, and Pepe.

In 1940 some rock fell and doubled the size of the arch! Now they know what piece of rock they expect to fall next, but of course they don't know when. They also don't know whether the arch will collapse when it does. But until then it's quite a sight!

Greetings Marilyn, How cool is this. We stood in about the exact same spot for our pictures of Skyline. Next place I go I am going to leave a quarter for you under a rock and I'll tell you which rock so you can get the quarter when you go there! ;-))

Rich, it's a game of tag, and you're it!

Nawitka on April 4, 2008

Marilyn, that is a great photo and good stories to go with it, as always. I've enjoyed your trip very much!

Marilyn Whiteley on April 4, 2008

Thanks, Nawitka, for joining me on the trip. I wish you could have been with us really and not just virtually!

A.SKINNER on April 5, 2008

Beautiful, this reminds me of your Abbey window shot, with the open sky showing through the arch...Anita

Marilyn Whiteley on April 5, 2008

Many thanks, Anita. I hesitate to explore whether there's some deep psychological reason that I like to photograph through things ... but I do! Best wishes, Marilyn
