Fall colors in Eastern Pennsylvania can be quite dramatic. Nockamixon State Park, in Quakertown PA, was created in the 1960s. Nockamixon supposedly means "area of soft soil". The name came either from the Shawnee or the Lenni Lenape language. There is still controversy around the area about whether the valley, once dotted with small farms, should have been flooded to form this lake. I happened to be out with a camera and tripod when this pretty periwinkle twilight caught the tree colors in 2008.
