Sad Commentary Poor ducks at Sterne aren't getting much but algae these days - and snacks from little kids. This lake which is really just a pond, gets its water from mountain runoff from Little's Creek, the name-sake for the town of Littleton. Unfortunately, we've been in drought conditions in Colorado for some years now. The water became dangerously low and stagnant so the rangers drained the pond during the winter last year to elilminate disease, bacteria, and mosquito larvae (I'm totally making this up as I go - just guessing but it makes sense.) It was back to full capacity last summer but alas, this is generally what the little fellows were coming up with. He doesn't look too happy about it either.
