Brownhills High Street 1960 Regal Cinema on left
What A Picture! Thanks. The yr i was born.
Hello George, on this photo was there a dentist a bit further up on the left?
I can remember my mother taking me to one in the early 60s, i also remember holding on to the door screaming "i aint going in" mom won, we went in, and it was`nt good i can tell you.
on the walk home i remember Waine house was being constructed.
I don't remember a dentist in that section of the high street, and do not have any photo's of one.
But things change so much, I look at photo's and see changes that I have forgotten about.
Can you remember all the fruit shops there used to be. At least three Holmes shops in Brownhills I only have a photo of one. And there was at least one at Chasetowm.
Hello George, i remember Holmes fruit shop, was there a fish mongers next door, or close by?
There were at least three Holmes vegetable shops in Brownhills High Street Known as Top Holmes, Middle Holmes and Bottom Holmes.
I remember watching that from my bedroom window (box room) roughly where the CCTV is now at number 7 Church road (now carpark)
Fishmongers was Sault if I remember correctly and they also ran the chipshop. Was also a shop along there that sold dinky toys. There was an opening half-way up and there was a West Indian Barber (could been another nationality i was young and fascinated by him) who was a very pleasant and friendly gentleman. Of course it upset Roberts Barbers on my road me being sent there by my step dad
