Thank you Patrick you are right this is the last of the 3rd rail electrified from Grand Central, for the MTA. I do know that the MTA does however operate diesels all the way down to the 125th station. Amtrak on the other hand switches over to the West Side Line in Manhattan "not electrified" at Spuyten Duyvil they use diesel power until around 37th street, trains switch over to 3rd rail electric before entering the North East Corridor connector tunnel to Penn Station..
