Belgrade - Home of Mihailo Petrović Alas (arch.Petar Bajalović 1910)

MIHAILO PETROVIĆ ALAS - 1868-1943 ,taught for nearly half a century at Velika škola,later the University.As one of the forerunners of cybernetics,his work added significantly to the construction of the computer.He was a pillar of the new mathematical disciplines:mathematical phenomenology and mathematical spectra. Mihailo Petrović Alas,along with his students,formed a mathematical group known as the Belgrade mathematical school. He was member of many academic and scientific societies at home and abroad.

Besides mathematics,he was interested in philosophy,literature,technology,economics,law,fishing and music.Because of his interest in fishing,he was nicknamed MIKA ALAS (fisherman)
