Two hours in the life of a Pilbara Ghost Gum.
These shots were taken out the back of Roebourne on the Harding Dam Rd.
On the way out there I noticed some smoke on the horizon which was coming from a distant bushfire. When I arrived at my predetermined spot I was relieved to see that the smoke was in fact, further around to the west and wouldn’t get in the way of my plans.
I didn’t realize at the time however that I was in fact facing the fire and the smoke had just blown to the right :)
The resulting orange glow at the base of the tree (which was not visible with the naked eye), is from that distant bush fire.
I was taking two 15 second exposures per minute leaving a 15 second gap for NR between images. The final 'Star Trail' composite is a ‘stack’ of 231 images taken over approx 140 minutes at ISO3200.
