Holysloot is a village in the province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Amsterdam, and lies about 9 km northeast of the city centre. It has about 160 inhabitants. The name Holysloot derives from an expression for a "low lying area at a ditch". The village lies at the end of a so-called 'dead-end road'. Holysloot has only one street, named Dorpsstraat (Villagestreet). In acient documents the village was already named in the 13th century.
