Epen en Geuldal

Epen (Limburgish: Ieëpe) is a town in the southern part of the Dutch province of Limburg. It is a part of the municipality of Gulpen-Wittem, and lies about 15 km southwest of Kerkrade. The town is known for its timber framed houses and is part of the sightseeing tour the Mergellandroute.

The Geuldal, which the River Geul meanders through, is a magnificent landscape with small brook streams, typical nature and heritage villages. The area is characterized by the influence of nature, such as the presence of zinc flora, carpets of orchids, trout in the fast flowing Geul, willow trees on the banks and on the hills Scots pine and beech forests.
