Oops I Spooked Him Again ! - April 3 - Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias herodias)

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Actually I think this fellow is a more or less a year round resident. I have seen him several times this spring, but this is the only even passable capture so far. He seems to have some sense of when I have the camera with me, as he is quick to fly off just as I try to focus on him. View is to the NNW.

Great effort Mark I think that the trick with catching mine was...I was in a canoe, it seems to catch them a little more unawares because I have tried from the shores and had the same difficulty that you have. Great shot of the wing span on yours, good luck in future endeavors.

Best regards, Cathy

There's a thought; I do have access to a canoe so maybe I will try a water born effort next time.

Thanks for your input, Mark

He objects to have his beak on Panoramio.

Most of them do!

Well done!

So it would seem Tomas. Today I took Cathy's advice and went out on the lake in a canoe; I saw him twice both times at the other end of the lake and going away - C'est la vie."
