That's bad ass! An aircraft carrier?
Yes, sure. She is in London as part of the commemoration of the North Atlantic convoys during WWII. After that, she is being decommisioned and scrapped. We have bought ourselves a new one.
Ships have changed somewhat.
Everything moves on Ian. I wonde what the new one looks like.
Lovely old carrier, wasnt Australia going to buy this back in the 1980's after we scrapped HMAS Melbourne?
I don't know. We seem to be in a habit of sending you our duds. Do you have a carrier at the moment?
I remember Australia had a MOU to by the HMAS Invincible but then that fell through... No Australia has had no carrier since the HMAS Melbourne was decommisioned in 1983.. Today we rely on the USofA to help us with their carriers... :)
One would of thought, with the vast coast line you have, a strong Navy was a must. Mind you, warfare is changing these days, so I guess unmanned drones are more important.
Our strong navy and coast guard cant even stop the leaking wooden piles of junk filled with Middle eastern non assimilating assylum seekers who imperiously sail into our west coast harbours without being detected... :((
We have the same at Dover where they sneak in on and sometimes under the trucks coming through Europe.
Another historic photograph, well worth framing,
shame they did not frame the ship as well
Cheers KC all the best Gordon

Hi Diggory. Glad we are now all friends. It was a stark and horrid time. I appreciate your visits and hope I can bring you some joy in areas other than things military.
