Came across a few of these beautiful Feather Stars a couple of days ago while diving off Bridges Beach. Had not seen any in 15 years. Always a thrill to see.

Striking photo Derek. I was wondering what you use to illuminate your underwater world?

Derek Holzapfel on August 6, 2013

Thanks Marty; I have rigged a couple of led lights on an arm attached to the tray with the camera, over the camera there is a underwater strobe triggered by a fiber optic cable, and I hand hold a 15 watt HID light. Lots of fun gear to mess around with. Hope you are enjoying this hot, dry, West coast summer. Cheers Derek

Wow, these sea creatures are really beautiful. Did you see the video of all the whales seen from Galiano Island. Apparently about 60 of them. Very exciting for those who witnessed it. whales

Thanks Laurel, I heard about the superpod, but had not yet seen the video. The resident Orcas have been out in the open ocean more this summer filling themselves with fish. Take care, Derek
