"the ears" are a natural formation reminiscent of bear ears that can be seen from a wide range of the lower mainland. They now guard the watershed that provides water to the city of Vancouver.
This is actually a picture of a mountain formation called the "Lions", located about 18 km. north of downtown Vancouver approx. 49°27'25.50"N 123°10'56.68"W. It's a wonderful hike.
