Super! L10 Question for dashalive: why F16?
Wouldn't it have been better to shoot more open, for a shorter time and/or lower ISO sensitivity?
Ciao, Nick

Thats sky was not seen at this location - too much light pollution here to see the milkyway - as an astrophotographer myself this is a case of two images taken at two different times in two different places spliced together in photoshop.. Not a true photo in my opinion - good digital art though.

dashalive on June 27, 2013

Thanks for your expert opinion Mark. Just to correct you .. it is a photo. It's known as a composite and you dont need to be too observant / astrophotographer to know that it is a composite as I deliberately chose to position the Milky Way running East West instead of its true direction North South!!!! Blind Freddy would know that you cannot observe our galaxy snack in the middle of a capital city bud.

Mark Simms on June 27, 2013

As I said - good digital art. Well done.

dashalive on June 29, 2013

You are a little confused Mark. Composites are not digital art. You may want to take a look at one or two of my tutors or - to discover they are both classified as photographers & their composite work is classified as photography. As they shoot just about everything in studio then mount them generally on HDR NDR or ME backgrounds they, all students & colleagues consider this to be photography. Thank you for the compliments too - cheers Dash

Nice montage, where were you when you took the photo of the milky way?
