Wow. This is pretty much the view from my back yard when I lived on Monterey Drive back in 1980, street name since changed to Nimitz. I lived there when I was 11-13 years old. What a paradise for a kid! We could pretty much walk out to that reef, only got deep enough that we HAD to swim right in the middle. The sand pits you can see in this picture are where we'd find many a longosta dinner. We tried to visit my old house in June of 2006, but we were not permitted on the base grounds since it's now closed. Shame, that. Thanks for posting this, it sure brought back some memories!
