In 2000 Duxford announced plans for the redevelopment of Hangar 1, previously known as the Superhangar, built in the 1980s. The building would be expanded by 40% giving more space for display and conservation. The result is Air Space which contains over thirty aircraft dating back to the First World War and the new building was opened to the public 0n 12th July 2008.
