I have seen (black and white) photos of many such ivy-covered pubs and buildings from the very early days of photography. It seems that green-covered buildings were all the rage in the 1850s and 60s.
Thank's for LIKE Andy, we have four in the village and this is the most attractive. first time up on tower roof, see for mile's due to it being on a shallow hill. cheer's for comment's. regards, Bill.

Silly me Peter, live here and did'nt correctly name it ;(( have now done so.[Inn On The Green] we called it "the green pub" when going out. regards, Bill.
