Fikardou is a small picturesque village in the Nicosia District on the eastern slopes of the Troodos mountain range. The village is an authentic traditional mountain settlement which has preserved its 18th and 19th century architecture and appearance. The quaint village houses were constructed with local iron stone mixed with pebbles and limestone slabs to support mud brick structures and finally covered with slanted tile roofs.
The whole village has been declared as an ‘Ancient Monument’ and restored by the Department of Antiquities. It was awarded the Europa Nostra Prize in 1987.
