Point Grand in Summerlands on Philip Island, Victoria. The headland’s distinguishing feature is The Nobbies: two rocks rising from the sea but joined together underwater. You can explore the boardwalk leading from Point Grand to the Blow Hole, an 18-metre deep cavity drilled into the rock by the swell and compressed air. The path continues around the rugged headland through amazingly vibrant green vegetation, which thrives on nutrients from tons of waste deposited there by a huge seagull population that occupies the headland. The sea is very rough and rocks suffer relentless hammering by the swell. The next arriving wave submerses the black boulder entirely in champagne foam, but subsequently, the water trickles down through cracks in the rock in beautifully symmetrical falls that make the boulder look as if it was trapped in a giant spider web (photo).
