hi jessica! nice girl and nice glasses - i have nearly the same shape/size glasses myself. looks like you "mirrored the mirror" to get the camera name looking as it does ;) or did you use a different camera to take the shot? very tricky :)

Jessica G., on April 6, 2008, said:

Um, thanks about the glasses.

You're right, I did flip the photo so it wasn't backwards. ;) It sure would have been tricky to do it with another camera: seeing as I didn't have any other camera when I took this!

Hiya, Jessica! Thank you so much for all your help on the 3D! You saved me pages and pages of forum help on the subject. I downloaded the SPM software out of curiosity but have not invested any time in figuring out how to use it yet. Fascinating. Thank again, Virginia

Beautiful & clever self-portrait Jessica. Can I put in my next portrait gallery please! :)

Jessica G., on April 7, 2008, said:

Hi Virginia and Billy!

You're welcome about the 3D. Glad I could help a little. SPM is a very useful tool and easy to learn, especially if you find Volkan's link to the Autopano-Sift. That way all you have to do is open the two pictures, press Auto-Align and then do any of the extra edits like cropping, switching the positions, adjusting colour etc.

Billy, sure you can if you have room!

Tolles Portrait !*!

Jessica G., on April 7, 2008, said:

Thanks for another yellow star, guiseppe!! (Tolles means terrific?)

guiseppe, on April 8, 2008, said:

'Toll' ( '-es' is in German the grammatical ending for the adjektiv of the neuter noun 'Foto' ), well, 'toll' has as well as 'terrific' negative meanings as well as positive. I meant the positive i.e. very, very good!!

Jessica G., on April 8, 2008, said:

Thank you again, guiseppe. I'm very much a novice in German! My dictionary translated Toll as terrific, but I had to ask to make sure.

guiseppe, on April 8, 2008, said:

This is right! "Du bist ein tolles Maedchen!" ist ein schoenes Kompliment.

"Bist du toll?" = "bist du verrueckt?" has the signification: "are you crazy?", and this is certainly not so positive. GG

Guiseppe, thanks for the miniature German lesson. :) Now I know to be careful how I use Toll!

Cinthia, Anne, thank you very much for the greetings!

Es ist fein, Jessica, wenn man auch andere Sprachen kann und ich bin sehr froh, dass man hier die Moeglichkeit hat, ein bisschen zu ueben (if it is too difficult, I´ll translate it in E)

(Trying without Google Translate)

It is fine, Jessica, when one can also speak another language and I am very glad that one here has the opportunity, a little practise.

Only had to look up three words! :o) Is it right?

Hoy Jessica, Auf dem Thema 'Blaue Sterne' kann ich das Dir shon matematisch erklaeren. Falls Du meine Antwort gelesen hast, die das wie folgend erklaert hat:

"I looked at the gallery after reading the post and agree with your assessment of it. For the low frequency and numbers of 'views' of the LARGE NUMBER of jk1812's photos over the past couple of years, they have apparently not met that many curious GE visitors who found it necessary to 'click' on them or sparked the Panoramio blue star selectors to hang stars on them, jk1812 should not feel bad about that."

Wie ich von Deinen Fotos sehen kann braucht es entweder einen Blauen Stern oder viele Freunde um die Fotobesuchszahlen in die 100+ zu bringen.

Giuseppe may help you translate, but I think that you are sharp and will deduce that the answer is mathemetical and the average views per photo are low and Blue Stars will over time bring the view numbers up.

I agree that this is a good venue to practise other languages. Besides German, I am also fluent in French and speak some Italian and Spanish.

I hope my "ON TOPIC" quip did not offend you.

Thanks Hamza. :)

Heinz57, I'm not quite sure what you mean. Because of the low viewcounts, you are assuming that jk1812's photos are not on Google Earth? That could be one indicator, but I suspect that very few views come from Google Earth on any photo. Just clicking on the blue dot will not raise the viewcount of a picture, you actually have to follow the link through to Panoramio itself in order for it to register as a view. And how many people will actually do that, unless a photo is misplaced? Many of my photos over 100 views are not even mapped. And when I look at the viewcounts of the photos that are in Google Earth versus the ones that were rejected, there isn't even a noticeable difference. But I can see that, for someone who hardly ever comments or posts on the Forum, Google Earth might be the only way their photos can be viewed.

For other languages, this is an excellent place! But I know so little German (have been taking it as a second language in school for about a year) that I don't feel comfortable trying to write in it yet. That will come. (And don't worry, I wasn't offended.)
