Fishing into the sunset - Allonby

We rented a tiny cottage facing this view. The only thing between the front door and the beach was the village green and the main road. However, our hoped for sunsets didn't materialize out of the steel grey murk for a whole week until the last day but one.

That day we had hiked the cliff top paths with old friends at St Bees. We had then split up and we had gone to St Bee's priory to shoot the interior. On our way home we went to Whitehaven where the Three Peaks Race was underway. We explored the harbour in the evening and looked at all the improvements. We then sauntered up the cliff tops to the old mine monuments and watched boats as they entered the harbour. Finally as darkness approached we returned to Allonby , to the pub, to dinner and finally to this sunset! Thank goodness the sun sets late over there or we would never have fitted it all in.
