Good morning MaryAlice I love your challenge in the morning (my time). I'm sure it's a Toadflax Nuttallanthus probably canadensis. Sweet dreams of flowers to you. Nity night, Peter
I am so very impressed, Peter! How do you do that? Furthermore, how do you think so sharply when it's that early in the morning? What time is it there? It is 1:00AM here. You're right too... It's time for me to get in the bed. :)
I'm so happy that you came by and identified the flower! I shall place you high on my scale of respected flower identifiers! :) You are the ONLY one there, actually! :) ( All others must fall below you in rank! )
Thank you again, and I hope you have a wonderful day.
mmm thank you indeed MaryAlice for your appraisal. This one was semi-easy because the flower build instantly lead me to the Figwort Family because of the spur and the throat-boss (bulge if you like). It was about 6.40 in my morning so I guess our timezone difference is 6 hours! Hope your evening will be a very good one MaryAlice, cheers Peter
btw MaryAlice I would love to know the conditions of the location where you found this Toadflax. Was it a woodland glade or dry meadow? and if you could attach a Geo reference it would be interesting too! Cheers again, Peter
Greetings! Are you in the bed yet? I'm thinking yes, seeing that you said you were six hours ahead of me. Wow, that's wild!
Anyway, I have mapped the photo for you, and I took another picture for you as well so you could see more of the flowers surrounding this single one. I plan to post it up before I turn in for the night, but I need to eat some supper before I get all heavily involved here again! ( it can be rather time consuming, as I'm sure you already know!)
The flowers were in a dry meadow, surrounded by thousands and thousands of the same! It is just beautiful..... all you see is purple for days! :) I sat out in the middle of it all today and just soaked it all in! . . . .BEAUTIFUL! :)
Anyway, I shall post up another photo in a bit! Maybe you can see it when you rise in the morning!
How could I resist not looking at this after I saw the title! (and how I havn't noticed it before I don't know). I will not admit to being skilled in flower identification, but I know what I like, and this picture is very nice! (especially full size). It has a wonderful simplicity to it, and such delicate shades of purple. It is wonderful.
Best wishes
Peter
Greetings, Peter! How funny about this title! No wonder it caught your eye! So you do not consider yourself skilled in flower identification? That's too bad. Lucky for us, the other Peter has it down pat! =)
Thank you so much for enjoying this delicate little bloom. Sometimes the smallest things pack a powerful punch! Thank you again for your thoughtful words.
