Nairn

As there is no information with this picture, let me fill you in.

It's not "near Nairn" as the title suggests, but slap bang in the middle of it!

The house with the white gable end is 14 St.Ninian Road which is part of the main A96 Aberdeen to Inverness trunk road. If you were to follow the road directly ahead you would get to Aberdeen after 90 miles or so. Instead, if you took a right at the light coloured house in the distance you would end up on the High Street, and centre, of the town.

To the left, out of view, is the Fishertown area which leads down to the harbour, about half a mile away. Directly behind where the shot is taken is 'The Links' which has a playground, cricket pitch and is the location for one of the biggest fairground gatherings in the North of Scotland, which coincides with the Highland Games (normally mid August).

Nairn is a lovely little town near Inverness on the Moray Firth. It has miles of sandy beaches and is an ideal place to come to as very central as a base. Visitors can drive to the west coast or Skye, the north coast or to Aberdeen in less than 2 hours.We have 2 championship golf courses, 1 of which hosted the Walker Cup in 1999 and in 2012 the Curtis Cup is coming to town!There are 30 golf courses within an hours' drive and we are near Cawdor Castle, Fort George and the Speyside Malt Whisky Trail.Lots of events in the town such as a regular jazz festival,book and arts festival and we recenlty had 2 film festivals orgainised by Oscar award winning actress, Tilda Swinton.
